Job Description

REPORTING TO: DCS / APC Leader

DIVISION: Technical Division

Purpose: To provide support services to other departments in accordance with established working procedures under DCS / APC Leader’s instruction. Responsibilities include assuring effective utilization of technical quality and ensuring appropriate safety standards.

Responsibilities: To perform this responsibility, minimum works are as follows:

• Review and update the engineering standards as needed in order to ensure that process control systems are engineered and purchased with the safest and best technology available.
• Perform activities to ensure that the design conforms to functional specifications, recognized codes and standards, and other requirements.
• Maintain and improve the DCS infrastructure, database applications etc. through communication with vendors.
• Improve key performance index（KPIs） through control development, support, and maintenance.
• Ensure that regulatory and advanced controls are properly designed and functioning to maximize value.
• Perform calculations and evaluations in the design of equipment and systems for industrial applications.
• Investigate process control system problems and equipment trips and provide remedial engineering recommendations.
• Troubleshoot process control systems.
• Participate in planning, cost development and management, scheduling, etc for assigned projects.
• Provide controls engineering services during turnaround activities.
• Carry out the job instructed by Section Manager, Deputy Section Manager, and DCS/APC Leader.

Job Requirement

Educational Level: University Graduated

Work Experiences: Min 3 years’ experience in DCS control systems or Equivalent

Specialty/Qualification: A bachelor’s degree in Control, Electrical, and Electronic, chemistry, or equivalent

Skills/ Abilities:

• Knowledgeable with the industrial standards and code requirements for process control systems, especially Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), etc.
• Excellent knowledge of DCS, Safety Instrument System and field instrument.
• Have experience in Maintenance of DCS, SIS.
• Having field experience in designing and applying the logic of DCS, PLC, etc. for industrial facilities is preferable.
• Capable to effectively design and review logic using Boolean, block diagrams, ladder logic and so on of DCS, PLC, etc. to improve functions and performance.
• Capable of expanding project documentation, drawings, specifications and testing procedures.
• Report writing and presentation skills
• English skills IELTS 5.0
• Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook

Nghi Son Refinery & Petrochemical LLC (NSRP) is a joint venture company established in 2008 by Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd and Mitsui Chemical, Inc. from Japan; Kuwait Petroleum International Ltd from Kuwait and Vietnam Oil & Gas Group (PetroVietnam) to construct and operate a mega refinery & petrochemical complex in Nghi Son Economic zone, Thanh Hoa province. The refinery will have the capacity to process 200,000 barrels of crude oil a day imported from the Middle East, producing petrochemical products such as gasoline, diesel oil, kerosene, jet fuel and polypropylene.

Our construction activities have started in July 2013. We are now recruiting Vietnamese qualified staff to work in the refinery operation.
