Senior Completion Engineer

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Responsible for completion engineering and coordinating all well planning and completion engineering activities.
  • Ascertain that the wells are planned in order to take care of HSEQ in accordance with authority requirements and TLJOC’s mandatory documents, objective and strategies.
  • Support tendering activities for completion equipment and services, such as preparing the ITB technical scope of work, supporting bid evaluations, and participating in contract negotiations
  • Ensure all completion engineering activities are completed on schedule to the required standard
  • Ensure completion engineering and well planning activities comply with relevant industry standards, Vietnam regulations, and TLJOC requirements
  • Onshore planning and programming for all completion activities.
  • Project manages the completion cycle for wells. Includes maintenance of records to demonstrate the status of any individual well project. For each development a detailed completion design report will be produced to include basis of design, options and final selection.
  • Liaise with the Subsurface Dept to ensure completion objectives are defined and formally communicated. In particular provides the link between reservoir engineering objectives and operations. Includes participation in completion design fundamentals such as sand containment philosophy, tubing sizing, metallurgical requirements etc.
  • Completion and well test programming including interfacing with contractors to develop their programs.
  • Responsible to co-ordinate definition of all long lead tangible requirements.
  • Actively and continually seeks ways to reduce well construction risks and costs, improve operational efficiency, and implement new technology and processes where suitable
  • Responsible for all Factory Acceptance Testing, stack up witnessing etc. to ensure equipment is fit for purpose before being sent to the rig.
  • Work alongside the Sr. Drilling Engineer to support cost control related to completion and well testing activities from generation of budgetary and AFE quality cost estimates through assurance of cost tracking to final cost reconciliation. To include identification of potential overspends and generation of supplemental costs for AFE purposes.
  • Responsible for all aspects of performance management and reporting including ensuring that NPT analysis, Lessons Learned and Unwanted Event reporting formats are kept up to date and disseminated.
  • Responsible to ensure completion load out lists are prepared. Responsible to liaise directly with suppliers to check readiness and suitability of equipment for shipment to rig.
  • Coordinate pre-completion meetings onshore and offshore prior to each well
  • Provide onshore support and oversight of completions operations in close liaison with the Drilling Superintendent.
  • Responsible to ensure that documentation for handover of wells to Operations is accurate and produced in a timely manner. Also responsible to ensure that well status and well history record are kept up to date after handover.
  • Responsible to prepare post well completion reports including liaison with service companies to ensure reporting closed out in a timely manner (within one month of end of completion or well testing operations).
  • Direct the work of the Rigsite Completion and/or Well Test Supervisors.
  • Ensure completion and well personnel are available to travel off shore at the required time and are fully briefed and de-briefed before and after specific operations.
  • Responsible for setting up and maintaining the Well Risk Register within their field of action.
  • Supervise any necessary actions for managing changes in the completion program following Management of change procedure. Identify and handle dispensations and non-conformances if/when necessary.
  • Support HSE incident investigations within the Drilling Dept
  • Member of the Drilling Dept Emergency Response Team
  • Site visits to rigs, contractor facilities and offices,
  • Ascertain a good communication with all groups in the project.
  • Monitor and report performance against targets.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Highly committed to HSE in Completion operations
  • Engineering degree qualification and/or significant industry experience in completions.
  • Minimum 10 years direct participation within a combination of offshore completion planning, execution and supervision activities.
  • Must be able to demonstrate life cycle involvement with projects in the region (including planning, programming and offshore implementation).
  • Experience of sand control completions and RDIF fluids with a strong focus on well productivity
  • Demonstrable understanding of zonal isolation techniques.
  • Experience of artificial lift (gas lift), downhole chemical injection and monitoring, and flow assurance
  • Experience of completion engineering software (i.e. Wellcat analysis, gas lift design, well performance and tubing sizing)
  • Valid offshore survival and medical certificates – for offshore Vietnam and SE Asia
  • Valid Well Control Certificate (IWCF or equivalent)

** Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience of fractured granite reservoir completions with Cuu Long Basin experience particularly relevant. Experience with other fractured formations (e.g. limestone) beneficial.
  • Experience of Clastic completions and well tests preferable with Cuu Long Basin experience.
  • Experience of completion running operations.
